- It was a Free Mocha kinda day - Monday, May 17, 2004 ...like you wouldn't believe. This week is going to be a bitch at work, and then some. We have academic testing going til friday, which means I do double the work without double the pay. So this week, yeah, it sucks to be me. I get home today and run right to a nail appointment, since mine were beginning to look werewolf-ish, and stopped in at my Starbucks for a much deserved treat. Nate (aka Nate Dogg) was there, smilin' away as the wind literally blew me in the door. I order my drink, get my card out to pay. He's lookin' a little mischievious from the start, but despite that I slide up to the bar for my frappacino. "Here's your drink, April!" "Thank you, kind sir.." "Muchos Gracias!" (and no, he's not mexican OR spanish) I'm standing at the register, just tapping my card on the counter. Uh, dude, let's get rockin' and rollin' with my payment, cuz I need to bounce. "I gotta pay, Nate...member?" "Nah...can't let ya do that. You're good to go." So after a back and forth bout of friendly arguing, I take a sip, see that it is SO good, and thank him profusely for buying my drink. "No problem" he quips, and smiles. Holy Java Chip, Batman! Was I pouring on the charm today? What's with the free mochas? I just remember cracking up looking at the expression of the girl at the register's face when Nate sent me on my way. She was getting all ready to ring me up, and gave him a look of.."Uh, are you really gonna do that?". Of course he is. And he did. And he made this girl's day :)
