A Week Rundown
I know, it's not friday, but I'm in the mood to ramble.
1. Work is interesting, much less shocking. We have kids that sing to themselves in the bathroom, pick their noses and insist that it be viewed by a teacher, and one boy grabs himself more than Michael Jackson doing a stage performance during the Thiller era.
2. I've been playing housemaid, trying to finish unfinished art projects, and I just got a call last week for another commissioned piece. Lord Knows I need the money.
3. My mother's sister shows up out of the blue, homeless and probably recovering from her last drug binge. So yeah, that's a hoot.
4. Everyone at the school gathered around the flagpole (half massed) in the center of the playground, said the pledge, sang "My Country's Flag", and had a moment of silence for 9/11. I cried. again. Just remembering the feeling of panic I had when I came to work exactly 2 years ago today, it wakes you up to know that we need reminders of how breakable this fragile thing called life really is.
All this, and I'm having Apolo/Short Track withdrawals so bad I have the shakes. My only salvation? I think I may head to Starbucks with my laptop, get the biggest damn caramel frappacino I can find, and possibly breathe while counting backwards from 1,000.
