And I shall name him...Lunar E. Clipse
Found this on Joanna's blog:
"British Girl named Diot Coke in 1379: Naming your child after a popular soft drink could be seen as a little bit faddish, but the parents of young Diot Coke might be forgiven - they gave their baby daughter the name way back in 1379."
And upon reading this, I couldn't stop laughing at my own similar situation with my preschoolers, and the three fries short of a happy meal parents that name them.
I was filling in for a co-worker today, which means I sub for a new class each day. And I swear to 100 year old Dr. Suess (bless his soul) that I've never seen a class with more whacked up names in my life. I mean, I'm all for unusual names, but it was beyond hilarious today.
One of the girls I brought to the office was named Austria. Yes, like the country. To add insult to...well, insult, I kept tripping up and calling her Australia. A travesty, I know. I couldn't get her name in my head, and after naming off the better part of Northern Europe, I was about ready to stoop to just refering to her as "hey friend."
Other notables were:
Fermin
Ahminah
Aneken
Bristol
You think I'm joking about this? After 5 years of this, I'm cataloging my preschoolers to be called "lil rats #1-200"
Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself. Yet for me, that would be At All Times laugh at yourself. I would be much less dangerous to flambuoyant parents if I was just behind a cubical where no one gets hurt....and all names could be written on the chalkboard in peace.
